Yep, it's official. America has spoken. Buffalo wings have secured their victory as the champions of snackdom, beating out cheeseburgers in the final round, defeating all others in our 2021 Snack Bracket Contest. And much like the NCAA National Championship game, it was never even close.
This wasn’t that shocking to us, considering just how many Buffalo wings Americans eat. Want to know just how many? Check out this infographic.
However, there were definitely some surprises along the way. Here's a recap of our first-ever March Madness Snack Bracket tournament.
________
The standouts
No matter how you spin it, one thing is certain: You really like your cheese. Whether it’s the melted, creamy dipping variety, atop a bed of tortilla chips smothered in guacamole and sour cream, or on a juicy burger patty, you’re pretty obsessed. (And we’re right there with you.) Cheese was the common thread among 1/2 of our Hungry Fan Snack Bracket Final Four (or 3/4, depending on how you roll with your tacos.
You love your nachos and queso, that's for damn sure. Again, we get it. Speaking of delicious cheesy things that please our taste buds, be sure to check out our loaded chicken nachos recipe. We highly recommend whipping these up for your next game day party...or just for yourself. 😉
The surprises
As with any tournament, there were some surprises and bracket busters along the way. We have to give props to some snacks that made it really far in this bracket challenge. There’s no love lost for popcorn, tater tots, sliders, and Cool Ranch Doritos (which incidentally have been crushing the snack game since third grade, for us at least).
We consider sliders as the UCLA of the tournament. They were a definite wild card, and they stayed in the game longer than expected. Way to go, mini burgers! Because you love them so much, we think you'll really get a kick out of this spicy sriracha sliders recipe.
