May is here, and we’re welcoming in the warmer weather by eating and drinking our way through the month! (Clearly, we’re working on our summer bods.) Did we mention that May is National Barbecue Month!? Oh yeah, it is. It’s time to pull the winter covers off those grills, amigos, and cookin’ al fresco. And while you’re at it, here are some other food holidays worth celebrating this month:
Cinco de Mayo
Everyone needs an excuse to drink a margarita (or three) and eat tacos, right? Or maybe you don’t (and we like you that much more). But either way, the observation of Cinco de Mayo is as good an excuse as any. Celebrate Mexico’s victory over France with our coconut chili margarita and pork tacos al pastor, and it’s sure to be a fiesta. ¡Salud!
Eat What You Want Day
Could there be a better food holiday than this one? We think not, but then again…technically, isn’t every day “eat what you want day?” We’ll stop overthinking it and just give you permission to be as bad as you want to be. Guilty pleasures like our buffalo mac and cheese and this tailgate supreme burger are sure to do the trick. #sorrynotsorry.
National Barbecue Day
Obviously, we’re celebrating barbecue all month long as part of National Barbecue Month, but this is the official day to go really crazy for some grilled or smoked goodness. Try our Memphis style ribs or our slow-cooked brisket. While we’re at it…need some better grilling tools? Check these out for your flipping and turning perfection.
National Hamburger Day
Well, well, well. Hamburgers are already so popular, they just had to have their own holiday. But we’re not mad about it one bit. Celebrate this iconic American classic with an updated take on the basic burger. Try our carnival burger or take a bite out of our hatch chile burger if you’re feeling spicy.
And if you still need more gastronomic reasons to celebrate, here’s the entire month’s calendar of food holidays so you can better fill out your May culinary dance card, if you will. (Apologies. Some of us have been flipping over to Bridgerton during NBA Playoffs commercial breaks.) Have a great and delicious month of May, and stay hungry, y’all!
