The Wimbledon Tennis Championships is well underway. Strawberries and cream might be what the oldest tennis tournament in the world is known for (along with tennis, of course). But there is also a refreshing libation consumed by the bucket load by the attendees—the Pimm’s Cup.
A Pimm’s Cup is a very British and very simple cocktail that can be easily created in a batch or by the single serving. It’s base is the English brand Pimm’s No. 1—a gin based liqueur. The secret combination of herbal botanicals, caramelized orange, and warm spices makes this the perfect base for a fruity cocktail.
The Classic Pimm’s Cup requires you to mix Pimm’s No. 1 with sparkling lemonade (we like San Pellegrino limonata), and adding a mix of fresh fruits and cucumber. Yes, you read that right. The cucumber and fruit give this drink a seriously refreshing taste that is perfect to be enjoyed on a warm afternoon while watching tennis. Or, at your next outdoor gathering.
Ingredients
1 ½ ounces Pimm’s No. 1
4 ½ ounces sparkling lemonade
Cucumber slices or peel for garnish (Click here to get our muddler)
Directions
Pour Pimm’s and lemonade into glass
Add cucumber, orange slices, and strawberry
Add mint on top to garnish
Pour, sip, and enjoy!
Recipe Note
Pro Tip 1:
Go heavy on the garnish. That’s the secret to a truly great Pimm’s Cup.
