Fall is upon us, and nothing screams fall like apple cider and whiskey, of course! But, instead of being traditional (and ahem, boring) and going for a warm drink, we decided to mix things up a bit and make a slushie, because, why not? Intrigued? We think your taste buds will be too...
Ingredients
4 cups (1 quart) apple cider
1 cup bourbon
1/4 cup fresh lemon juice
4 cups chilled ginger beer
Lemon wedges
¼ cup cinnamon sugar (about half parts cinnamon and sugar, depending on your taste)
12 cider donuts or donut holes
For slushies
For serving
Directions
Combine apple cider, bourbon, and lemon juice in a large pitcher. Pour the mixture into ice cube trays and freeze completely, for at least 6 hours.
When you’re ready to serve, prepare your serving glasses: Coat the rims with juice from the lemon wedges and dip the glasses into your cinnamon and sugar mixture.
Next, place the bourbon cider cubes into a blender or we recommend this handy slushie machine. Blend until you have the consistency you’re going for. Top with chilled ginger beer and garnish with a cider donut.
Sip and enjoy!
Recipe Note
Pro Tip:
If you want to get a head start on prep, make your ice cubes in advance so you can just throw them in the blender or slushie machine. For larger parties, simply transfer the frozen cubes into an airtight container in the freezer to make more cubes.
