An Old Fashioned is a classic cocktail. And our spin on it makes it a perfect fall cocktail. This cocktail looks so pretty in the glass bottle with orange peels, anise, cloves, cinnamon sticks, and even a vanilla bean floating around in it. And with its warm amber color, it just screams fall…and also “drink me.” For serving, it’s best to use a tea strainer to catch the smaller seasonings as you pour each drink. It’s best served over ice—preferably one large ice cube. We love these awesome ice molds.
Ingredients
4 ounces maple syrup
1 ounce Angostura Aromatic Bitters (roughly 48 dashes)
2 ounces water
3 cups bourbon
Orange peels (6–8 thin strips so they fit through the mouth of the glass)
2 whole stars anise
2–3 whole cinnamon sticks
15 whole cloves
1 vanilla bean, split lengthwise
Directions
Combine all the ingredients in your 1-liter bottle. Stir well with a long cocktail spoon, if it will fit. You can also seal the bottle and shake it.
If you’re preparing this hours in advance of serving, make sure to stir or shake it occasionally as it sits.
Store in the fridge or in a cool, dark place.
